Talofa and greetings from Samoa and hope you are all well. I am back from
Melbourne after attending the 2nd World Congress for Colleges and
Polytechnics with John, Jenny, Daniel and Kolinio. I am proud to inform our
members that we are now a Full Member of the World Federation of
Associations of Colleges and Polytechnics and am currently our
representative on the Board.
This is an excellent step forward for our association to be part of an
international body in the development of TVET. As a result of our
presentations from the Pacific, the former Chairman of the World Federation
of Association of Colleges and Polytechnics, David Gibson (Chief Executive
Association of Colleges, UK), stated in his final remarks during the closing
ceremony the importance for institutions in developed countries to be aware
of the problems institutions in smaller nations are facing so that through
networking and strengthening partnerships in the World Federation, they must
help and assist us in whatever way they can.
We shall congratulate John Bartram and COL for their support in getting our
association nominated and assistance by paying the registration fee.
On another matter attached is the 1st draft of our Constitution for your
comments before our committee will present a final one. It is based on the
World Federation one and is not a legal document but rather a flexible
agreement which we hope will suit members needs. I will appreciate some
feedbacks within the next week or two so we can get the ball rolling and
plan our next agenda and activities when we meet next time perhaps in
Wellington, 30 Sept - 4 Oct.

Cheers

Peri
