The Government of the Kingdom of Tonga has applied for a credit in the amount of US$ 5.85 million equivalent from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Cyclone Emergency Recovery and Management Project (CERMP), and intends to apply the credit proceeds to payments for goods, works and related services and consultant services to be procured under this project.

The procurement packages to be acquired under the project are:

Civil works:

Supply and construct approximately 400 cyclone resistant housing units (US$ 3.3 million)

Goods:

Aerial photography and map products (US$ 0.4 million)

Consulting services:

Strengthening emergency and risk management (1-2 packages totaling US$ 1.1 million)
Civil works supervision (US$ 0.2 million)
Building standards improvement and training (US$ 0.16 million)
Project management (three packages totaling US$ 0.18 million)

Procurement of contracts financed by the credit will be conducted through the procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997 and January 1999).

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank's international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for large value consultants' contracts will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and in local newspapers.
